New Jersey Hospital Association and IPR International Form Nation’s
First Partnership to Offer Affordable Data Protection Solutions for New
Jersey Hospitals.
Princeton, NJ The New Jersey Hospital Association,
the leading advocate for 112 New Jersey’s hospitals and IPR International,
a leader in data protection and recovery, today announced the formation
of a strategic alliance that will make the benefits of online, electronic
data backup and archiving available to all NJHA’s members at preferred
rates. The first partnership of its kind, this service automates and
simplifies the backup processes at each member hospital by allowing staff
to back up and store critical data to a secure offsite location with minimal
on-site IT support.
“We have witnessed unparalleled destruction from hurricanes and floods
in this country during the past few months. Protecting healthcare information
is of great importance to New Jersey’s hospitals,” said Joseph Carr, chief
information officer of NJHA. “IPR’s unique capabilities and expertise
in data protection strategies will help all of our members ensure the recover
of critical data in the event of a system failure or major disaster. This
partnership helps to lessen the burden on our hospitals by allowing them
to benefit from the collective expertise and buying strength. As hospitals
continue to deploy and leverage information technology to deliver care,
the demand for responsive data recovery becomes increasingly paramount,”
he added.
IPR’s DataGuardian On Demand service provides
reliable online disk-to-disk backup without capital investment. Using
state-of-the-art technology and proven best practices, the service automatically
transmits encrypted data to secure offsite locations to ensure that data
is protected and recoverable. On Demand enables a hospital to
reduce data backup windows and provides 24x7 access to all backed up files
and folders with a simple, online point-&-click.
“We live in a dangerous time and rely heavily on our hospitals and physicians
to be able to help us through emergencies,” according to Mike Emmi, chairman
and CEO of IPR International. “At the same time, there is an increased
burden on our healthcare system to protect the privacy of patient information
while keeping data readily accessible. IPR felt an obligation to work
with the NJHA to deliver our services to the hospitals throughout the state
at an affordable price point. We are delighted with this partnership and
vow to work with the NJHA to support member hospitals through the aid of
advanced technologies."
NJHA Members Ensure Secure, Protected Data
Several NJHA member hospitals have already deployed the DataGuardian electronic
vaulting solution in their data centers including Cooper University Hospital
in southern New Jersey, Somerset Medical in central New Jersey, and St.
Mary’s Hospital, (Passaic or Hoboken?)
“The speed-to-value with IPR has been phenomenal,” said Karen Graham,
CIO of Cooper Health. “Legal pressures, particularly around HIPAA, have
forced us to demonstrate that we can ensure privacy of patient data and,
needless to say, as a teaching university hospital with over 60 sites,
it was imperative that we be able to recover information quickly and completely.
It used to take up to 40 hours to recover the email system, now recovery
is near-instantaneous.”
“We have been a very satisfied IPR client for three years now,” said David
Dyer, CIO of Somerset Medical. “In an emergency, hospitals need immediate
access to critical data. IPR’s point-and-click recovery capability for
files and folders makes recovery quick and easy. If we were to lose a
server, IPR delivers our data on a mobile vault within a few hours. Their
service has saved us considerable amounts of time and aggravation
over the years since we do not have to rely on single server backup solutions
nor heavy capital investments in an enterprise solution.”
