Off-site Centera Replication at an Affordable Cost
Intended use: Organizations using or considering the
purchase of an EMC® Centera
The preferred mechanism to protect information stored on the
EMC Centera is to replicate to an off-site Centera. For many organizations
this is a challenge:
- Don’t have 2nd facility (client controlled, network, people)
- Don’t have $ for second EMC hardware, licenses and maintenance
- Don’t have labor or sufficient in-house skills
Organizations must protect content stored on their Centera. You have a requirement
to preserve archived information off-site for regulatory or disaster recovery
purposes or both. Revenue generating departments (for example,
Radiology) depend on access to data stored on the Centera. On top of this,
rapid growth of data stored on Centera makes it increasingly difficult to
backup to tape within the backup window (even if the Centera Backup and Recovery
Module (CBRM) is being used).
Centera Off-site Replication In Your Organization
Replicate all or selected Virtual Pools
How it Works
The primary EMC Centera is owned by you and resides at your datacenter. A secondary,
managed EMC Centera is hosted at a remote and secure IPR datacenter.
- Centera replication technology is enabled on your primary
Centera to perform the replication of your data—all data
or just the data (virtual pools) you select.
- Replicated data is transferred via a secure (dedicated
or VPN) link to the IPR datacenter.
- Replicated data is stored on a secondary, managed Centera
at the IPR datacenter.
Recovery
- In the case the primary Centera is unavailable, data
on the secondary Centera will be accessible via the secure
link.
- In the event of a complete loss of the primary Centera,
the secondary Centera will be made available to your DR
site through a secure link.
- Alternatively, a secondary Centera can be delivered to
your DR site.
